This marker was placed in 1940 on U.S. 90 and Hempstead Road.  In 1955 it was reported that the marker was moved due to Highway changes.  The marker is now located on the south side of Old Highway 290 - Hempstead Road. It sits on a beautiful grassy median backed by oleanders and tall pine trees.  It is just even with the junction of Hempstead Road and Katy Road and the District 10 office of the Texas Highway Department is across the median on Westcott Road.

Mrs. Neta V. Taylor arranged for the new placement of the marker and gave 18 oleander trees to be planted near the marker in honor of her father, Major Christian Shiras Bodenhamer.

Mrs. Nelson Ramsey reported the marker in good condition on June 2, 1980.  She was reporting for Mrs. T. E. Graham, President of Jefferson Davis Chapter No. 1637 UDC of Houston, Texas.
